Financial Literacy

This term we will be learning how to save money and how to use money wisely. We will establish a class currency and will learn how to budget our finances. We have spent a number of lessons so far learning about our New Zealand currency, the special features on our dollar notes and the Reserve Bank.We have tagged a variety of websites on our Delicious Bookmarking accounts under the tag financial. We will work through the tutorials on Banking For Our Future and learn a variety of ways to make the right financial choices. The class went onto a website called career services and found out information about what career they wanted to be and wrote the information and job down on a piece of scrap paper and put it in a little box and then Mrs Pearson mixed them up and we closed our eyes and picked one out and that is now our career in the classroom. It is a very good way to learn about finances.

Maths Week

On the 8th of August we had maths week. We have have maths week for a week. In that week we have activities to do such as code cracker, 10:15 sprint , individual challenge and our own class challenge. To get the code you must answer the question. 10:15 sprint gets called out over the speaker at 10:15 your class has to get the correct answer and sprint to the location given. Individual challenge is your own challenge that you have to complete and get the answer right and see a duty teacher.

VSA bracelets

VSA friendship bracelets were being sold at Pukekohe Intermediate school for three dollars. They are being sold from the 3rd of August until the 15th of August. We also had a mufti and brought a VSA friendship bracelet to come to school in mufti. If you wanted to purchase a VSA friendship bracelet monitors will be out side the library from 12:30-1:15 if you didn't like the bracelet you had, you had to take the bracelet back with the card that you purchased it with. All the money that our school raises go to countries over seas.
